Crews in isolated, high-stakes environments are assessed against population norms — an average of people who are not on the ship. Aether builds the other instrument. It reads the person’s own baseline — and it has already been run.

Sherry Moore, founder and Principal Investigator, works where behavioral health, human–machine teaming, and human–AI alignment meet: long-duration spaceflight and its analogs, and the offshore and industrial crews that face the same problem with a smaller denominator.

§ 02 — The perspective

An artist’s attention to a technical problem.

With a decade of creative and commercial practice, Moore brings a perceptual discipline to a domain usually left to engineers: the measurable signal that forms between a person and the adaptive systems they work alongside.

For decades, the industry has built systems designed to extract, predict, and manage. Aether begins at the other end: the person remains the subject and custodian of their own model. Interpretation is co-calibrated, permission is ongoing, and the architecture begins with how a person actually engages.

§ 03 — The research

Four lines of research. One architecture.

Conscience Architecture Models one person against their own history rather than a population norm — locally, on their hardware, under their keys. The framework the other three run on.
Relational Twin Mission Chemistry. Carries the framework into long-duration spaceflight as a software payload — no added mass, on-device inference, no ground tether. U.S. provisional patent application filed · Speaker, ESA Space for Inspiration 2026.
Relational Signal Science Proposes a different unit of study: not the person, not the system, but the coupling between them — and treats the structure that emerges there as measurable. Draws on enactivism, second-order cybernetics, and dyadic developmental psychology.
Project Sanctuary Takes the same instrument to Earth as the Persistent Operational Twin System, and redesigns the isolated worksite around the crew rather than the asset: operator-owned behavioral support, biophilic habitat, and on-site clean energy in one system.
§ 04 — The evidence

The instrument has already been run. Ten years of baseline; eighteen months of signal.

The baseline is not stationary. Within one device and one behavior, skip rate fell from 74% to 45% to under 8% across three consecutive months — a regime change localized to a month, not a slope.

The two channels agree at minute resolution. Listening covers 95% of the minutes inside writing windows, against 76% across the same days. p = 1.8 × 10⁻⁴.

And two hypotheses failed. Day-level coupling: null. Intraday convergence: null. Both are reported — a baseline you cannot falsify is not a baseline.

The subject is the principal investigator.

§ 05 — The work now

Mission Chemistry asks what behavioral signals mean — not merely whom they belong to.

Identity-resolution systems can connect fragmented observations to a person. Mission Chemistry studies what changing signals mean for that particular person and crew — and keeps the interpretation under participant control.

Aether is not asking to use a crew. It is offering to de-risk one. You bring the crew, the confinement, and the study funding. Aether brings the instrument, the protocol, the deployment, and the analysis — and your crew keep custody of their own baselines. The prior is a decade deep and the instrument has already run live, so the pilot validates rather than invents.
